What is copyright?
Copyright is the collection of rights granted to the author of a piece of work. Ex: book, song, video, etc.
Public Domain
Isn’t protected by copyright laws because the copyright has expired, it was created using public money, or the creator donated the work.
Example: Shakespeare
Freeware
Copyrighted work that you can use, copy, or give away for free
Example: iTunes
Shareware
Similar to freeware, however, if you want full use you have to pay for it.
Example: Minecraft
All Rights Reserved
May be used by the purchaser according to exact details that were spelled out in license agreement.
Example: iWork
Open Source
Software that includes the sources code
Example: Firefox
