The Ritenour Review

2016 - 2017 Third Grade Weekly News

Celebrate!

This week we put the finishing touches on our animal reports and today we had the wonderful opportunity to present all of our learning that took place during our informational writing unit. It is times like this that make me proud to be a teacher. The amount of effort and hard work that went into these reports is unbelievable and I cannot wait for you to see them! We will be keeping our reports at school for awhile as they will be on display. If you get a chance to come by in the next few weeks (I should have them up by Wednesday), take a look! Every single student should be so proud of the work they have done during this unit and I know we have all grown as writers as well!

Coming up next week...

Next week...

Language Arts: We will begin writing our own fables in class.

Math: We will continue unit four, focusing on area and perimeter of regular shapes and take our unit assessment on Wednesday.

Genius Hour: We will continue to research our guiding question and choose our project that we are passionate about creating and presenting. Stay tuned for a schedule for student presentations.

Reading: We will begin our folktale unit with a focus on fables, folktales, and tall tales. Our main focus will be retelling key events and determining the central theme of the story.

Word Study: Students will continue working on their word study sorts. Please encourage students to practice these at home as well!

OLSAT Testing

Next week students will be participating in the OLSAT test. Please try to have your student here Monday and Tuesday and avoid pulling them out if you can.

Winter Party

Please let me know if you would like to be involved in planning our winter party in a few weeks. I will also use sign up genius when the time gets closer for anyone wanting to donate items! Thank you so much for your support!

Happy Birthday Cole!
