Mark's Monday Morning Memo
April 25, 2016
We Need You to Be a Cooperating Teacher!
The good news is that Human Resources is getting requests from colleges and universities who are specifically requesting a placement for student teachers here at Rice Lake. The bad news is we need more volunteers from grades 1-5 who would be willing to host a student teacher sometime next school year. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in or if you have questions about that kind of commitment, please let me know. Thank you for your consideration!
Great River Energy Grant
Congratulations and thank you to Rice Lake parent and PTO Treasurer Jennifer Frantz for writing and being awarded a $1,000 grant from Great River Energy for our school's Sharing Shelf. This has been a passion of Jennifer's working with Amy Paton to supply resources and items teachers can access for things students need. Besides the $1,000 grant, Jennifer has been successful in securing other donations to the Sharing Shelf. Thank you Jennifer for your commitment to Rice Lake students and families!
#GoodNewsCallOfTheDay
Boston Davis, a 5th grader in Mrs. Bernard's room, received my 100th #GoodNewsCallOfTheDay on Monday, April 18, 2016. With thirty-three days of school to make a difference for students, I'm hoping to reach 135 positive phone calls home this year!
Colleagues Sharing Their Knowledge
Thank you to our own colleagues who shared technology applications with us as part of the April 20, 2016, system professional development. Ryan Bisson shared See Saw, Kris Dodds shared Notability, Jodie Erickson shared Adobe Voice, Jill Berg shared Timeline, and Jeannie Setterholm shared Vocabulary City and Spelling City. Thank you to these colleagues who helped the rest of us learn more!
