What's Happening in Week 12! (October 27th - 31st)

Welcome to Halloween Week! I'm sure this is going to be a crazy fun week! Not only is it Halloween week, but it is also the week of our field trip to Sci-Port! We have a lot planned for this week.

Homework UPDATE

Homework will be counted as a grade for the second nine weeks!

Be sure your child returns homework by the due date to receive full credit.

Dates to Remember:

October 27th- Unit 1 Math Test

October 29th- Evergreens due

October 30th- Sci-Port

October 31st- Grace Gator Day & Black Out Pep Rally @ 2:00 + Homework Packets Due

November 2nd- Time Changes! Set clocks back 1 hour


This week we will have our Unit 1 Test in Math. This is a comprehensive test for all math concepts covered to this point. I will spend a portion of the class time on Monday and Tuesday splitting the class into two groups. One group will be receiving enrichment activities for math and the other group will work with me on remediation.

Unit 1 Vocabulary:

Addend- a number added in an addition problem

Difference- the answer in a subtraction problem

Please review the Test Prep that was sent home on Friday.

New Vocabulary for Chapter 5:

Count on- a strategy used to add.

Count back - a strategy used to subtract.

Number line - a diagram that shows numbers in order as equally spaced points on a line.


This week we will be learning about matter and its properties. We will learn that properties are how something looks, feels, smells, tastes, and sounds. Color, size, and shape are all properties. Matter is what all things are made of.
