Library News
Hello KES Families,
This is Mrs. Jurek and I am the new librarian at Kyle Elementary. Although, this is my eighth year at KES where I was previously a Kindergarten teacher! Mrs. Stone and I are excited to be able to get books out to our KES readers, even if it is a different way that we are used to!
Here is some information that may answer some questions you may have:
Previous year Book Checkout
- Notices were sent out earlier this week if your child still has a library book checked out. If your student is coming back to campus, have them bring it back with them to school. Teachers know what to do when the book is brought back to campus!
- If your child’s book is lost, please contact Mrs. Jurek at Kristen.jurek@hayscisd.net so I can let you know the price of your lost book, so that we can get it replaced and get a new book checked out for your student.
Virtual Student Book Checkout
- We will have checkout and book return once a week for virtual students, starting the week of October 5th.
- This will take place Mondays 8:00-9:00 and 11:30-12:30 in the back gym car rider line. Either Mrs. Jurek or Mrs. Stone will be there to greet you! Please, stay in your car and we will take the old book from you and have the new book checked out and ready for you. Students are able to request books through Destiny on the KES Library website. Check Schoology for a video from Mrs. Jurek on just how to do this!
Schoology
- For virtual learners, I will add lessons every other week for students to upload work and for a library lesson!
- If your child has not done so already, the Schoology access code is: 7FJ6-37XX-32TFK
KES Library Website
- The KES website has a ton of links and valuable information for you. It can be found here: KES Website
- There are links for requesting books, library links, school links, and a Virtual Makerspace!
Technology and student return information
- When/if your student returns to campus, their device AND the cord return too.
- The device stays will stay in the teacher’s classroom for student use at school. They will be able to take home, if in the event they are needed to go virtual again. They will not come back and forth from home to campus each day so that we can limit the chance of damage to the device.
Thank you so much and look forward to this new school year!

Medications:This year ALL scheduled medication that is taken by a student once or twice a day is encouraged to be administered at home before or after school. Mid-day medication administration can be given here on campus. Per the CDC and TEA we are not able to administer nebulizing treatments during this time of COVID-19. Students are still allowed to keep an inhaler in the campus clinic but they MUST have a spacer with the inhaler. Please see the medication authorization form attached here. This must be filled out completely with any Asthma/Allergy or Seizure Action plans that your student may need.
Medication Authorization Forms can be found on our Hays CISD website here: https://www.hayscisd.net/Page/727
Once you and your doctor have filled out the appropriate paperwork, please contact me to set up a medication drop off time, by appointment ONLY. Parents will be met by the nurse outside the school building to accept medication and paperwork. Paperwork may also be faxed or emailed once complete to the school nurse. Please contact me with any questions. Thank you!
