This next week will be a very fast and short week. We will not have a spelling test due to the limited time.
I sent home a yellow fluency folder. This has 1 reading passage a week for most of the school year. There are directions for how to use the folder for parents. The idea is to time your child, check errors and comprehension. By their 4th time reading the passage their time and errors should improve significantly. You do not need to send the notebook in each week for me to check. You can hold on to it, use it all school year and then send it in at the end of the year. Those who complete doing it all school year will receive a prize. Please keep track of it and use it! If your child reads well then use it as an opportunity to work on sounding good as they read, using voices, pauses, inflections. Everyone will benefit from doing it.
Please remember that your child can do Istation reading and math from home. I sent the log in information last week. This program customizes their lessons and gives them practice in their areas of need.
Have a great Monday off!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN LEARNING
Language Arts-We are looking at literary nonfiction which mostly consists of biographies. We read Helen Keller and watched an amazing video about her life.
Science-We focused on the vocabulary associated with matter and changing matter.
