Homecoming 2021
Get ready because this year's Homecoming theme is...Old Hollywood!
This year's Homecoming Dance will take place on Saturday, October 23.

Varsity Volleyball
Varsity Volleyball has had a busy week with games. On Tuesday, they went to Owendale-Gagetown to win all three games. Lola Abromaitis ended the game with a total of 17 aces! Becca Weiss also contributed to the team win with 8 aces. Addie Tresnak got a total of 5 kills. Becca Weiss also got 4 kills along with 14 assists.
After winning all of their games on Tuesday, they had a home game on Thursday against Mayville. They started out rough, losing the first game, but going into the next three games, they won the rest giving them the overall win. Lola Abromaitis served 7 aces and also had 10 kills! Addie Tresnak helped the team to victory with 19 kills and 3 blocks! Becca Weiss ended the game with a total of 29 assists!
Great job this past week, and good luck at Genesee and Kingston this week!

Varsity Cross Country
On Saturday, the Varsity Cross Country team ran in the Holly Invitational. Aiden Fitchett, a top ten qualifier, ran a time of 18:04 and placed 7th. Next, Jackson Spencer ran 22:36, Noah Hall ran 22:46, and Connor Wolff ran 23:01. Both Matthew Hickmott and Matthew Livingston ran great with times of 26:59 and 33:20. On the girls' side, Audrey Napolitano ran 23:45, Lily Finnigan ran 27:29, and Ava DeVlaminck ran 28:23. Great job to everyone and good luck at Linden this weekend!

The September 17 game against Cros-Lex was canceled. The Dryden/Imlay City team plays Algonac at home on Friday, September 24.

Within the past week, JV Volleyball has had two games, winning the first three sets over Owendale-Gagetown. They had a lot of great serves in this game, and that came with a lot of aces. Lily Finnigan helped the team with 10 aces as well as Sophia Peter with 9! Olivia Stickler also took a big part in the win with a total of 5 assists. Lily Finnigan also contributed to the win with 5 kills.
After winning the first game, they had to get ready for their home game vs. Mayville. These games were tougher for the team, but they still pulled through, winning all three games! Isabella Weier helped the team to a win with a total of 6 aces! Both Ava DeVlaminck and Mackenzie Theobald got 4 kills each! Olivia Stickler helped the team with 8 assists as well as Isabella Weier with 6.

Junior High Volleyball

Dryden’s Junior High Volleyball team played an amazing first game of the season in Deckerville on Monday. Dryden’s combined 7th and 8th grade team played a total of 6 sets against Deckerville’s 7th and 8th grade teams. Dryden’s first match against Deckerville’s seventh grade team started with the first set ending with 25-12. The second set’s score was 25-23. The girls' third set of the first match ended with 15-8. Brianna Snavely served 13 in a row in the first set and nine in a row in the third set. The second match was against Deckerville’s eighth grade team, the first set ended with 26-24. The second set ended with 25-20. The third set of the second and last match of the game ended with 15-12 points. The Junior High Volleyball team is currently undefeated with a season score of 1-0 so far. Great job, girls!

Random Student Spotlight
Kai Grabowski

Kai is a sixth grader who has been at Dryden for almost 8 years. As an advanced student, he currently spends his day at the high school taking 7th grade classes. Kai plays in the Dryden Junior High band at Dryden. Outside of school, Kai enjoys playing sports with his little brother and playing the piano. Kai says his favorite thing about Dryden is that everybody is so nice, and he is looking forward to graduating from the elementary school. He plans on going to college to get a master's degree in engineering and then going into the Air Force to become an astronaut. Kai would like us to know that he loves playing piano and other instruments such as the guitar, trumpet, and drums.
Emma Raue
Emma is a junior who has been attending Dryden since kindergarten. She plays on the Varsity Volleyball team at Dryden, but in her free time, she enjoys drawing and painting, playing video games, and watching anime. Emma’s favorite thing about Dryden is the art classes. After high school, Emma plans on attending college to pursue her dream career of being either a Graphic Designer or a Private Investigator.
