Weekly Report
Hello everyone! We had a quick 4 day week. MAPS testing is pretty much complete. Some kids did not take the testing so we will not have data on them. The MAPS testing helps with allowing me to better group students. Title 1 uses the reading to form groups to pull kids who may need some extra help. The tests are given in fall, winter, and spring.
Miss Mendoza, Miss Betustak, and I are preparing the classroom for student return. Our classroom will be very different from past years. The desks are spaced apart. We have also staggered lockers with Mrs. Luce's class. We will have to line up in order every time we leave the room and allow space between each other. Masks will be worn for pretty much the entire day. Please make sure your child has a clean one each day and also a backup in case it gets misplaced. All supplies will be stored in students' desks. We will not be sharing items. Although it will be different, it will be safe.
*****New on Google Classroom*****
Any assignment that has a red X will no longer be looked at or accepted. These assignments are past the late due date and would be zeros anyway. Now that we are halfway through the grading period, we can no longer filter through all these assignments.
Reading--- We will continue Charlotte's Web. Our next weekly story is called Dear Primo and its genre is realistic fiction. We are focusing on summarizing, text and graphic features, and point of view. We will have our quiz on Friday on HMH.
Math--We will finish Topic 1 and review it. We will have our test on Friday. Have your student rewatch the Visual Learning videos if they need additional help.
Spelling--The words focus on the long o sound. Remember to complete all 8 activities in Spelling City by Friday at 9:00 am. The test will be on Friday on Spelling City.
Social Studies--We will begin our new Scholastic News. Next week in Science we will continue our Mystery Science on water patterns. I'll post the link to our video in Google Classroom. There is eventually a test over it and rewatching the video is helpful.
English-- We enjoyed reading your writing. We will continue to become better writers this year. Next week we will be on Week 4 of the Daily Review packets.
Reminders/Odds & Ends
*Please make sure you are checking RDS regularly. Google Classroom is our virtual platform for learning. It does not properly tell you about missing assignments. Students can click turn in but turn in blank work. Blank work will showed as if it was completed but there will be nothing submitted for us to grade. Please check RDS for missing assignments.
