Principal's Comment
Kia ora e te Whanau
I'm delighted to announce that our playscape will be constructed over the Christmas holidays! We hope to have it completed before the start of the 2024 school year.
In other good news, our swimming pool is opening next week. Please have your children bring their togs and towel each day.
On a less positive note, one of the least-fun parts of my job is hearing concerns of parking behaviour outside the school gates. Examples include:
- Parking on yellow lines (including dropping off and parking)
- Parking up people's driveways
- Parking over people's driveways
My request is simple... please don't'!
Thanks to the overwhelming majority of you that do park appropriately... it makes the roads around the school much safer and the neighbours much happier!!!
Have an awesome weekend!
Nga mihi,
Steve
Tug o war between Room 6 and 17... part of our Thursday afternoon sports programme!
Introducing our new assistant principal (junior school)
As mentioned in a previous newsletter, Mrs Woods is retiring at the end of the term after many years of outstanding service.
We have appointed our new junior school assistant principal. We welcome Miss Jo Coles to the role starting in 2024.
Jo is currently teaching at Lucknow School in Havelock North and has held a number of leadership positions.
We look forward to Jo joining our team in the new year.
Author Visit
Both authors delivered wonderful messages and our children really enjoyed their visit.
Thanks to the Story Line Trust for making this visit possible.
Free Frozen meals are available. Please call/come to the office if you are interested
Stamp Art
Mrs Stone's grandfather collected stamps over several decades... going right back to the 1940s! These stamps were inherited by the Stone family when their granddad passed away.
Room 6 have created beautiful artwork using grandad's stamp collection. By coincidence, he would have been turning 100 years old this week!
Thanks to Room 9 for their mahi in maintaining our native path!
