A Message from the Principal
Greetings St. Anthony Catholic High School Community!
What a wonderful week filled with blessings we had!
SACHS is winning BIG! Our Volleyball Girls WON THE STATE Championship on Saturday. It was a memorable moment for the girls and the team! Thank you to all the coaches who led the girls to this great victory and thank you to all the parents who dedicated much time to keep the girls focused on academics and volleyball during the season.
We had the UTSA Mobile Go Unit on Monday to help seniors set up an APPLY TEXAS account. This will help track college applications and other very important information.
On Wednesday, October 25 we had an ORANGE OUT day to stand in solidarity with the Archdiocese against bullying. During chapel, I spoke to the students about bullying and how God created us to be good to each other and make the world a better place. Each student received a copy of the prayer (in the pictures section) and we said it as a school to remind us to use ourselves to do God's work.
We also had the Blood and Bone Marrow Tissue drive that exceeded the goals set forth. Our goal was 43 donations and we had 49 students register, 30 whole blood donations, 8 double red cell donations and 11 deferrals. Overall, we collected 46 lifesaving blood products and added 9 possible donors to the marrow registry.
We ended our Wednesday evening with a fabulous Mission and Ministry Spaghetti Night that packed the cafeteria with a delicious meal from Luce Italian Restaurant.
On Thursday, we had a successful Sibling Day starting with prayer and introduction from Father Hall followed by lots of fun activities for Seniors and Freshmen to bond.
We also had the Pro-Life Club Meeting afterschool that hosted a guest speaker from the UTSA Students for Life Club to talk to the students about being pro-life and shared some reflections on the Church's teachings. See picture below.
Our boys had a defeat on Saturday but played very well in football as it was the last senior regular home game. They have had a great season that is taking them to the playoffs soon. We will have more details soon.
On Saturday, the Young Oblates were serving the homeless in the cold weather, truly doing God's work.
We had a fun filled Sunday at the Hope for the Future Run with the Archdiocese. We had nearly 200 participants signed up to support SACHS so we were happy. And, we had winners in almost every category with our talented athletes.
Cross Country and Track play in a State Tournament this Friday at 9am at Live Oak Park. Let's wish them lots of Yellow Jacket encouragement!
On November 2 at the Centro Cultural Aztlan from 6pm-9pm, there will be a special showcase that highlights the work of our Spanish department and the Spanish 2 and 3 students who put together a beautiful altar to honor and celebrate dia los muertos. See picture below.
Our new Director of Development started last week. Please help us welcome Mr. Michael Bracelin. He comes from the office of enrollment from the Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Mrs. Alaniz has officially retired. We wish her well in the new journey she is embarking. Counselor assignments will be as follows until further notice: Carrizales- 9th/10th and Arismendez- 11th/12th.
All students who had 3 or fewer absences for the first 9 weeks of school should have received a certificate for a FREE Spurs ticket. We will continue this incentive each 9 weeks to encourage good attendance.
Dear Creator and Loving Father, we thank you for the goodness You shower upon Your children here at St. Anthony Catholic High School. We thank you for highlighting the talents You have given them. We ask for your wisdom and knowledge as we protect and nourish our kids with Your Word and learning so they can become more like You. We ask for your guidance to bring more children to Your school that You build with us each and every day. Live through our actions and mold us. In Jesus Name, Amen.
"Your Word is a lamp to my feet and Light to my path." Psalms 119:105
May your life be blessed!
