Domain 2 and 3: Building Community while taking Attendance!
Building Community with Attendance Questions "Getting to know your student" activities do not always have to be in game form. Lizanne Foster uses the "attendance" question to engage students in their own thinking related to the lesson for the day. "When we take attendance, we are essentially asking each student, "Are you here?" But are students actually present when their minds are elsewhere? By asking the attendance question, I am indirectly asking my students, "Who are you? How are you? What matters to you?"

iBooks on your Mac or iPad has a special section created by Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs) that highlight innovative curriculum they have created around the use of technology in the classroom. This group of iBooks is called One Best Thing, and there are a variety of curricular topics with lessons or units built around a focus on integrating technology into the classroom. The One Best Thing units and lessons are free to download and help teachers organize curriculum and technology in an easily understandable way. Sample one the books that shows how to enhance writing using digital storytelling.
