Principal's Message
Hello Wolfpack!
Student leadership and agency are essential to positive school culture. Being a part of student leadership is an excellent opportunity for your student to get involved and positivity impact the Wolfpack community. Being a part of leadership helps students develop numerous skills including conflict resolution, cultural intelligence, and professional advancement. Students will experience working on a team, and, as with working on any team, there will be challenges in communication and work style. This is the perfect time to find how to work with others and where areas for personal improvement might be. Students will learn many soft skills that are required to be successful in any profession. For example, meetings will teach communication and expectation setting; projects will teach time management and responsibility; presentations will teach public speaking and organization. Take advantage of these learning opportunities. Step into the responsibility and ensure every student believes the belong at North Central High School. Leadership applications are due next week.
School Day SAT is Wednesday, March 1st, for all 11th graders. The opportunity to take the SAT for free during the school day is a unique experience supported and funded by the SPS Board of Directors. While only 11th graders take the exam, test administration impacts the entire school. The first and second floors of the IST will be for testing only, and thus will be blocked off to all other students. In the morning, the IST doors will be available for testing students only, and first-fourth period classes in this area will be relocated to an available space. Please help your student be ready for these disruptions. I want everyone to have a safe and productive testing and learning experience.
The strength of the wolf is in the pack.

North Central DECA Recognized for Outstanding School-Based Enterprise (SBE)
North Central Students Gabriella Van Inwegen, Elizabeth Bartlett, Abbigail Muller, Joey Jenkins, Maya Turnbull and Jenna Wilcox were recognized for achieving Gold Level Certification for the 2022-2023 school year and will be recognized during DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Orlando, FL.
A school-based enterprise (SBE) is an entrepreneurial operation in a school setting that provides goods and services to meet the needs of the market. SBEs are managed and operated by students as hands-on learning laboratories that integrate National Curriculum Standards in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. DECA advisors have utilized this effective educational tool for over four decades to provide their students with realistic and practical learning experiences that reinforce classroom instruction, enhance 21st century skill development, and prepare students for college and careers.
“DECA’s School-based Enterprise Certification Program is a rigorous process designed to help DECA members demonstrate their classroom learning in a practical, learning laboratory, and then translate that into meaningful outcomes,” said Christopher Young, CAE, Chief Program Officer at DECA Inc. “These DECA members are practicing important workplace readiness skills while preparing for college and careers.”
DECA’s School-based Enterprise Certification Program provides recognition for outstanding achievement by school-based enterprises and to motivate SBEs to strive for excellence and growth. SBEs can be certified at three levels: bronze, silver or gold. In order to apply for the certification, SBEs must submit extensive documentation that explains how the SBE demonstrates the practice of various marketing and retail standards. A review committee evaluates the documentation to determine which level of certification has been achieved. DECA’s School-based Enterprise programs are sponsored by Intuit and Otis Spunkmeyer Inc.
NC's Ella Sandau Competes in Jr Olympics
This is Ella's second time competing at the Junior Olympics. She says: "There's a lot of high-level fencers there and being able to even just compete against them and learn from them is an honor...I feel like having more people compete with me has helped so that I can get advice from them too."
See the linked article for more details about this accomplishment and congratulate Ella when you see her at school! We're all very proud of you.

NC March Madness
Beginning next Monday, February 27th, we are starting our first ever Attendance March Madness competition. Each week, every teacher will be assigned a matchup against another teacher. The teacher whose classes have the highest average attendance will advance to the next round, progressing through the bracket until there is only one teacher remaining! Who will persevere to get their One Shining Moment? Who will be our Cinderella Story? Will there be a surprise upset? All this and more will be revealed!
There will be prizes given out to the winning classes, and we will also come and celebrate any class who has 100% perfect attendance for any given week during the competition. Get those brackets ready and let the competition begin!
