PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Happy Friday Titans,
I am excited to report that this group of students as a whole (6th, 7th, and 8th graders) has come back to school ready to learn. I'm seeing a great deal of focus in their habits and mindsets. It clear to me that our students are very happy to be back!
Our Science department is planning an opportunity for the entire building to experience the solar eclipse. Glasses for every student and staff member are on the way for the 2:35 pm event on Aug. 21st. The only adjustment we at the middle school anticipate is with our bus dismissal potentially being delayed about 15 minutes. Walkers and car riders will leave at their usual time at 4:05 pm. During the 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm eclipse viewing event, all staff members will be chaperoning our students. We also invite you, the parents to help chaperone. We have enough glasses for parent volunteers, but we will be unable to accommodate younger siblings.
We've chosen to roll-out our devices, the Dell Lattitude laptops, on August 21st. Yes, it is the same day as the solar eclipse viewing. Because this day is sure to be exciting for our students and the day will be filled with Solar Eclipse curriculum activities, this is the perfect opportunity to distribute devices without disrupting classes. We have planned a "round robin" of activities throughout the three grade levels (device deployment, digital citizenship, and solar eclipse activities). We, at Elkins Pointe, are looking forward to sharing this "Out of this World" experience with our students!
Sincerely,
Kindra L. Smith, Ed.S
Principal
Elkins Pointe Middle School
