Good Luck 2nd Grade

Tomorrow is 2nd grade's big performance at the Orange Peel. This is the culminating performance in their unit about sound. Dr. Bob's Sound School is an amazing unit focused on educating students about the science of sound. Scroll to bottom of the link above and see our cute 5th graders when THEY were in 2nd grade. Precious!!

Spring Fling ....

....is fast approaching. We have a few classes who have not confirmed their booth. Please see Ms. Cain about your selection. We have several "ready to go" booths in storage. This annual fundraiser is the reason PTO is able to financially support the DC trip with a $3000 donation each year. This year PTO also funded part of our math specialist position, reading tutor, family and after-school support, increased cultural enrichment, and year-long teacher appreciation efforts. Last year Spring Fling raised over $13,000! It is a team effort so we need everyone to promote and make plans for May 6th.

We need cakes for the cake walk (see Mitchiner) and items for the Silent Auction (see Cain). If you can, ask a parent or friend for a donation to the Silent Auction. So far we have dinners, art work, weekend vacations, a weekend at LEAF, and even a great kids bike.

Celebration of Champions

We have available tickets for the Celebration of Champions this Saturday night. Interested in tickets? Come see Ms. Cain as soon as possible.

About Celebration of Champions:

Celebration of Champions is ACSFs signature annual event. Celebration has raised money for the Foundations cornerstone programs: professional development opportunities for teachers, IRL (In Real Life) afterschool program, TAPAS (Teaching Artists Presenting in Asheville Schools), and the Equity Fund.

The Champions are chosen from a group of almost twenty community-selected nominees including the Community Agency Champion, ACSF Partner Champions and Community Volunteer Champion. In addition to these awards, Parent Champions from each ACS will be honored as champions for their respective schools.

2016 Community Champions
