Inspiring curiosity and building integrity to cultivate a positive learning community.

We believe the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Shadow Hills Elementary School is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community. We envision a school in which staff:

  • Inspire curiosity

  • Build integrity

  • Cultivate a positive learning community

  • Unite to achieve a common purpose and clear goals

  • Work in collaborative teams

  • Seek and implement best practices that result in student growth and achievement

  • Monitor student progress

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the overall success and well-being of all students

(Vision based on P. 135 of the following book - Eaker, DuFour & DuFour. (2002). Getting Started: Reculturing Schools To Become Professional Learning Communities. Bloomington, Indiana: National Educational Service.)

Social Worker - Michelle Weickum

Ms. Weickum

This year, our school social worker, Ms. Weickum, will facilitate a group for students called SSET: Support for Students Exposed to Trauma. The group will be led once a week for eight weeks and has a structured curriculum that helps students identify ways to decrease symptoms of post- traumatic stress, depression, or general anxiety and improve functioning at school, home, and with friends. If you have questions or would like her to screen your child to participate, please complete this referral form:

Free Meals 2021-2022!!

A message from the Boise School District Food Service:

  • All enrolled children get one free breakfast and one free lunch per school day for the entire school year.
  • We are not accepting meal applications this year.
  • Meal prices for SY2122; MySchoolBucks fee per transaction has increased to $2.75
  • We have simplified our services in an attempt to increase line speed. Service highlights include:
    • Students will come up to the service line so they can see the food and self select a tray/entrée. This should significantly improve line speed from last year.
    • Cards/pin pad use is not necessary unless a student would like to purchase an a la carte item (milk, second entrée, etc.).
    • Students will self serve pre portioned condiments, silverware and napkins on the service line after the point of sale.
    • Look for the new daily menu signage near the start of the serving line.

Thank you for your support!
