College and Career Newsletter
February 2023
From Mrs. Myrick
Seniors: I know that January and February can feel like long months while you wait for admissions decisions, but try your hardest to be patient and keep you anxiety low about the future (remember - stress and anxiety candy is always available in my office)! If you are offered a deferment to Regular Decision from Early Action or Early Decision, come talk with me about some ways to show continued interest in the school. Deferred is not denied!!! If you are feeling defeated about receiving deferments, come to my office to receive your Mrs. Myrick pep talk and complimentary piece of candy! :)
As you receive acceptances, please complete the college acceptance form below! Make sure you are completing scholarship applications (check here for my Scholarship Newsletter) and checking your emails for news from me, your universities, and your scholarship applications. As I have said before, make sure you keep up with your grades this semester and remain committed to your clubs and activities - colleges do care.
Many of you have heard me say this multiple times, but remember to enjoy your last semester of high school - go to all the pep rallies, dances, and extra events, take all the pictures with friends, and do your best to remain present!! You only graduate high school once. Make it count!
Senior Parents: The Scholarship Newsletter (button linked below!) is a great resource for you to use. I will add scholarships to this same link as I find ones that would be beneficial for our STEM seniors!
Juniors: College night will be February 16, 2023 at 5:30pm in the High School Commons! Please come to hear about the college application process. The After Graduation Packet (AG Packet) will be sent out to every junior - please make sure that is completed and returned to me by Friday, March 24 so we can start our post-graduation planning meetings this spring!
Start thinking about your future now! It is the time to start thinking about where you want to go to college! Go to as many college fairs as possible, speak with all different types of schools, and sign up to get on the mailing lists for those colleges.
Junior Parents: College night will be February 16, 2023, 2023 at 5:30pm in the High School Commons! Please come to hear about the college application process. If you are unable to attend, this presentation will be on my website, in each monthly newsletter for the rest of this semester, and will be repeated in August or September of your child's senior year as well.
As always, feel free to come by my office and chat, email, or schedule an appointment if you have any questions!
- Myrick
