Odds and Ends

UPDATED: BAS Information- The BAS testing window for K-4 has been moved to mid 4th quarter, exact dates will be communicated soon. The 5th grade window has remained February 16 - March 10. This change was made in order to provide year long data, as well as reading level information to start the year. While it is not required to give the BAS at this time, there may be some that you want additional information for report cards. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help in any way.

February 25th: Next Thursday is February 25th, therefore the next time we celebrate UV's 25th Birthday. Corie has made a big heart with a title that says "25 Things We Love About UV" and put a picture of Thing 1 and Thing 2 up with it, so it can stay up for Dr. Seuss week also! Each class received (1) 24 inch long writing strip to write their reason on, which will then be stapled into the heart. Please return completed "thing statements" to Corie by Wednesday, February 24th. Molly and Ellen you will get a strip also, so your classes can participate as well.

Peer Observations - I hope you all are as excited about the opportunity to observe your peers as I am for you! Please work with your "partner" to schedule a good time for you to observe. Please send me a quick email when you have worked out a time. Also - let me know if you need coverage to go observe, I would be happy to help!

Pennies for Patients - Our School Goal is to raise $500 for Pennies for Patients (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society); there will be a bucket in every classroom.***If you donate at least $1.00 to Pennies for Patients then on Pajama Day you may bring something soft to cuddle with.

Monday, February 22nd Wear All Blue- Cooperation

Wear all blue to show cooperation because more minds working together makes it better.

Tuesday, February 23rd Sports Team Day-Responsibility

Wear your sports team clothing to show responsibility because you need to do your part to make the whole team successful.

Wednesday, February 24th Super Hero Day Courage

Wear super hero outfits to show courage because super heroes are courageous to get things done.

Thursday Dress to Impress- Caring

Dress to Impress (dress up) to show you care about your school. Don’t forget your shoes for P.E.

Friday, February 26th Pajama Day- Self Control

Wear your pajamas, but show self-control by getting your work done and having fun.

***If students donate at least $1.00 to Pennies for Patients then on Pajama Day you may bring something soft to cuddle with.***

Analyzing ECOs- You got off to a great start analyzing the reading ECOs during the December and January PD days. This work should now continue in your PLCS. You can structure it however you'd like (ex. work on one ECO every other week, one a month until the end of the school year). You will want to complete analyzing the reading ECOs this year, as we will pick up with writing next year. There are additional yellow organizers by the mailboxes in the copy room. Please let me know if I can assist in any way.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: As always, if you would like for an administrator to sit in on a parent/teacher conference we would be more than happy. Please send us the date and time of the conference and one of us will be sure to attend.

Rockwood’s Reading Day: Rockwood’s Reading Day is March 4th. Here are OUR plans for that day. Since it is Dr. Seuss’ Birthday week – Let’s have this be our theme on Friday, March 4! (Remember, we are doing our UV Reading Week May 9-13, when we will celebrate with OUR theme – Reading is Out of this World!)

Plans for the Reading Day on March 4

  • Staff and students wear Dr. Seuss hats and shirts (March 4th is also “Hats On for Cancer”), or any other reading shirts
  • Stop and read – at 10:15-10:30. Everyone reads in the school at this time.
  • Read Dr. Seuss’ books for his birthday week!
