Cultural Weeding presentation

We are excited to announce that the world famous presenter on all things library, Kevin Hennah, will be attending our Term 4 meeting for a full day presentation. Kevin will be delivering his "Cultural Weeding" presentation. This is a joint Sutherland Shire and Sydney Region TL Day and is also open to all others who are interested.

Wednesday, Oct. 30th 2013 at 8:30am

Brighton-Le-Sands Public School

35 Crawford Rd,

Parking is available in the surrounding streets. Teralba Road is probably the best option. There are buses from Rockdale station that run down Bay Street and stop at the end of Crawford Rd. It's a 5 - 10 min walk from there.

Library culture, image, promotion and resources are all put under the spotlight, as Kevin poses his thought-provoking ideas on why libraries need to weed more than just print to remain relevant.

Invite your library assistant to join you so it's a real team event!

The cost is $60pp and includes morning tea and lunch.

DEC employees can enrol on MyPL@edu by October 23rd with course code: NR05438

Big image

Kevin Hennah has worked closely with libraries since 2002 on strategies to maximise productivity of space and improve presentation and image. During this time he has carried out site visits to approximately 1000 libraries throughout Australia, New Zealand, America, Asia and Europe.

Kevin’s understanding of the operational requirements of libraries is coupled with practical advice that is sensitive to budget restrictions and challenges traditional thinking. He is the Author of The Victorian Public Libraries’ Image Handbook and the featured author in Re-think, Ideas for Inspiring School Library Design.

On a weekly basis Kevin works hands-on with library staff sharing innovative ideas for makeovers at all budget levels. He has also had input into the design of dozens of new libraries both nationally and internationally.

Kevin has also developed a suite of library-specific workshops that explore innovations in library design, layout, furnishings, navigation and signage.
