TOMS Shoes and Eyewear
Created by Blake Mycoskie
Background
In 2006, Blake Mycoskie went to Argentina and befriended village children. He noticed that they did not have adequate footwear to support their feet on the dirty and hard ground. He felt that these children deserved to have their feet protected by shoes, and a great quality shoe at that.
TOMS Shoes was created later that year. He created it so that they could use the one for one method. This means that for every shoe that they sold, another pair was given to a child in need of footwear. Five years later, in 2011, TOMS expanded their company and their one for one method, and TOMS Eyewear was created. TOMS has given more than 10 million pairs of new shoes to children in need and helped restore sight to over 200,000 people.
How are we similar? How are we different?
