ST MATH for Beginning of the Year
Just a few reminders
Grades K-4
Instructionally, any subject or concept that is presented to a child in a format that engages their attention is perceived as nonthreatening. Jiji is simply a game in some instances. Connections are made they learn new concepts throughout the year.
Welcome to the Mind Research Institutes, ST Math and JiJi.
Dedicated TimeIn order for people to learn a concept or anything new that has steps to get to the finish line, requires practice. Students really like to work with JiJi and want to finish their time each week. K-1 is 60 minutes per week 2-4 is 90 minutes per week Time logged into the computer should be at least in 15-20 minutes at a time for the computer to calculate any positive activity. Less time could possible show your class having alerts or concerns. | ST MATHStation time is the best time to use ST Math. It can be used in the afternoons while waiting on buses. After the first week or so of school, procedures will be ingrained and time will surface. We do not set ST Math for homework. As students work through games at school, they can replay them at home. | Learning Students love JiJi and will want to skip other assignments to get on the iPad. The computer keeps up with the minutes each student is using the program. If they forget to log out, it will cause their minutes to soar! Try to help them practice backing out, before moving stations or giving the iPad to a friend. |

Create Your Class for this Year
1-4 STUDENTS: When former ST MATH students begin the year, they simply sit down and type in their old password. Teachers have to make their classes before a student can be linked in the new year. Sometimes it may take a few tries. Tap 3 times in the corner with your curser and link them to your class once they get logged in. You can have several on the computers/iPads at one time trying to log in. Link all of them at once. Note: Computers work better for this process.
How do I add a brand new Hudson ISD student to ST Math & link all my kids to my groups?
SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT: All students, every year, have to be linked to you, the new teacher! If you skip this part, their scores do not get recorded! It makes them very upset! Watch the entire video.
TIP: I have as many as possible sit down and type in their password and then I link all of them at once to my account so I don't have to do it one student at a time. If they don't know their password, send me their names or Renea Bufkin and we will transfer them to your class and you can retrain. Let them try several times, they often remember.
Oh No! They can't remember the password! What do I do now? (Retrain, too.)
See the video below for returning students that can't remember their passwords! Have your password handy.

Reorder your curriculum before students begin!
Do this first before they login and begin.
Challenge is always last.
