The First Draft

As the idea of independence from Britain became more popular, the Second Continental Congress decided to take action. They enlisted Thomas Jefferson to write the first draft of what would become the Declaration of Independence. His ideas, combined with the ideas of philosophers such as John Locke, helped shape our nation.
