Library Procedures Updated

F2F and Remote -- September 2020

Library Safety Measures

Enter and Exit Library

We have only one door going in and out of the library, so be sure you remain social distanced. When entering the library, be sure to sanitize your hands.

Follow the arrows along the floor to keep a flow of traffic while browsing for the books.

Student Library Use Guidelines

  • Practice social distancing at all times.
  • Occupancy is limited to 10 students at a time.
  • Sit only in designated seats, and never share seats.
  • Do not rearrange the seating in the library.

Returning Library Materials

There will be a designated space in the library to return library books. These books will have to sit for 7 days before the next person can check them out.

If you have library books from Austin Academy, or another Garland ISD school, you may bring them to the Austin library. Books will have to sit for 7 days before the librarian can check them in. This will not keep you from checking out, as limits have been increased.

Remote learners may return books to the front office or to the librarian at curbside pick up times

Checking Out Books/Requesting Books

Browsing

Students are encouraged to locate books using the online catalog and

place a book request for book delivery or curbside pick up.

Steps to Browsing

  • Hand sanitze before going to shelves.
  • Select books with minimal touches to other books.
  • Always have your ID card with you for librarian to scan.
  • Sanitize hands again after books have been checked out.

Mobile Library

Both Remote Learners and Face-to-Face learners will need to fill out the book request form to have books delivered. The book request form can be found on this newsletter, as well as in the Library Canvas page. Students may request multiple books at a time.

Face-to-Face learners will have books delivered to their 1st or 5th period classes at 8:15 a.m. A mobile library will also visit the ELAR classes once every other week.

Browsing for books in the library is permitted for face-to-face learners, however, there will be a limited number of students in the library. Students must wear a mask while book browsing, and remain at least 6 feet apart. Your times for browsing will be during your Reading and/or English classes.

Library Procedures

Remote Learners

Curbside pick up times have changed. Pick up is now offered on Mondays and Thursdays.

On the book request form, be sure that you specify that you are a remote learner and choose your time to pick up. If none of those times work for you, please contact me and we can see if we can schedule another time.
