4th grade farewell meeting
At the conclusion of each school year, we bid farewell to our 4th graders as they move onto middle school. This event is made possible by 4th grade parents volunteering to help with the day.
Our first meeting will be this coming Wednesday October 17th at 6:00 PM in the Magee library. We would love to see our 4th grade parents there!

October Title 1 Tip
Dear Families,
At the beginning of each school year, teachers and students work together to practice classroom routines and develop expectations. In grades 1-4, teachers are reviewing a classroom structure called Daily 5 and Kindergarten students will be introduced to it through lessons.
The Daily 5 is a literacy structure that teaches independence and gives children the skills needed to create a lifetime love of reading and writing. It consists of 5 tasks designed to build independence and stamina.
These are the five tasks:
· Read to Self
· Work on Writing
· Read to Someone
· Listen to Reading
· Word Work
Your child has been reviewing what each task looks like, sounds like, and feels like. We hope you will hear about some of the fantastic things your child has written, read, or shared during their Daily 5 time. Please feel free to contact us or your child’s teacher with any questions you may have.
Thank you for your continued support!

October Character Trait- Responsibility
To be fully prepared to participate as active, contributing members of our society and world our children need to learn to be responsible for themselves, others and the environment. This deeper level of responsibility or social responsibility includes an awareness and growing appreciation of our connectedness to and interdependence on each other and our environment.
