Principal's Message
Aloha Waiahole ‘Ohana,
By now you should have received our school’s Strive HI Report for the School Year 2014-2015. We are committed as a staff and school to ensure that students are achieving Common Core Standards in English Language Arts, Math and Science. This is a partnership and we need your help! Here are some suggestions that we have:
-Have your child read at home.
-If you have internet access have your child complete 2 articles a week on Kid Biz/Teen Biz with 75% or higher on the first try.
-Have your child write at home. They can write about things they do during the week or weekend (i.e., sports, family outings, etc.)
-Have your child practice math facts.
-Utilize IXL
-Prepare your child for the interim assessment in November (Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 only)

Aloha Families,
Waiahole Elementary has been recognized as one of the top schools in the state for decreasing our chronic absenteeism rate. To help us improve on that honor, please ensure that your child continues to come to school daily and that family trips are scheduled during school breaks. Please remind your child of some helpful tips to avoid getting sick by washing hands with soap and covering his/her mouth when coughing or sneezing.
I’m excited to announce that we will be starting our canned food drive for Baskets of Blessings. We will begin collecting donations from November 2nd through November 20th. Donations can be turned into your child’s homeroom. The class with the most donations will receive a class party at the end of 2nd quarter. I’m looking forward to all the exciting activities coming up in the month of November!
