Sixth Grade Spanish:
Sixth grade students are learning to talk about the school schedules, classes and the items they need for classes. They are able to describe teachers and classes as well. They will be introduced to subject pronouns and verb agreement ... conjugating verbs.
Sixth Grade Social Studies:
In the coming month students will be looking at Ancient Greece and Rome. Students have a Cornerstone Activity on Alexander the Great and if he truly deserves that title.
Seventh Grade Social Studies:
In February for 7th grade social studies we will beginning our unit on Economics. Students will explore how people and countries organize for the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. We will examine how the role of government in economic policy-making varies over time and from place to place. Student activities include gathering and analyzing data, as well as using critical thinking skills to determine how best to deal with scarcity of resources.
Students will also be independently participating in various community and/or environmental service activities to learn and experience the value, importance, and benefits of civic participation as they continue working on their Student Service Learning Project. This project has both in-class and at home components. At the completion of the project students earn their Student Service Learning hours for 7th grade (Due February 22nd). If you need more information about the SSL project please contact Mrs. Bowser.
Also, beginning February 19th, Mrs. Bowser will be out on maternity leave. Cassandara Suder will be filling in as her long term substitute. Ms. Suder is a certified social studies teacher and we are confident she will do an excellent job taking over while Mrs. Bowser enjoys her time with the new baby.
