SHISD Mid-Week Message

Promoting Great Things in a Great School District

Welcome Back!

The new year always brings new hopes, new goals and new excitement. We had a tremendous year in Panther Nation in 2015 and 2016 it set up to bring even more success.

Kudos and Family Concerns

  • Thanks to Barbara, Edie and the business office for the quick turn around on the stipend
  • Mr. Barron at SHHS has a 10 year old brother with special needs that was airlifted to Children's Medical Center in Dallas Monday Night with Pneumonia in both Lungs. His condition is improving but has asked for prayers of healing.
  • Cathy Reed's father is doing a little better and the family still needs prayers as well.

AP Government Seniors present to City Government Officials

Students from Mrs. White's AP Government Class met with the Longview city manager, police chief, and councilman David Wright in December to present their findings on polling data. What a great chance for these students to apply their learning.

SHJH Wave program making a difference!

From SHJH Counselor Taylor Clark:

"I want to brag on my Junior High Wave kids. We have been working on holiday cards to deliver to area nursing homes. When we showed up at Pine Tree Lodge Nursing Home this past week, we thought we were just going to pass out cards. The nursing home director thought we were singing. My kids did not hesitate in saying, "We can sing!" They quickly found some lyrics on their phones and sang several songs. Some of my students even volunteered to sing solos! They were amazing, and I was SO proud of them.

After singing, they delivered cards, and their actions literally brought me to tears. When I looked in the rooms, several of them were holding hands with the residents and reading the cards to them. I feel so blessed to be able to work with these kids."
