A Letter From The Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you have survived the snow and cold days that we experienced. Thankfully, we are every day moving closer to spring. In the meantime, keep sending your student with boots, snow pants, gloves, hats, and scarves in addition to their regular winter coat as winter is not yet over. Speaking of snow, I know those of you who drop off students on the Elmore side of the building do not enjoy the benefits of sidewalk cutout as those on Wisner do. Unfortunately, those stretches of concrete that connect the sidewalk to the street are not present on Elmore. Our maintenance staff cannot shovel the grass, so your students will either need to walk down to the corner to enter or climb over the snow.
The beginning of February brings CogAT for our 2nd grade students. For these students, this is part of the identification process for Channels of Challenge. In hopes of your child doing his or her best on this assessment, the best thing you can do is make sure they get good nights of sleep and enjoy a healthy breakfast.
February is also when families can begin pre-registering for next year. If you have any friends or neighbors who will be new to Field, you can tell them to go to the D64 website starting February 4th to start the process. This date is only for incoming Kindergarten and any new students. Returning families will get information in April. Doing your registration as early as possible is very important for the schools. We will use completed registrations as the key to determining staffing for the buildings. When the time comes for registration, please do it as soon as possible. If you can make sure your friends and neighbors, especially those with incoming kindergarten students, know about the February 4th starting date for any K and new students. Thank you for your help with this.
The state has pushed the closing of the 5Essential survey back and there's still time if you have not yet completed the survey. We currently have 21% of parents who have completed a survey. If we could reach 25%, that would mean that 27 more people complete the survey. I think 27 or more of you could do that. Here is the link to the 5Essential Parent Survey. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey to help Field continue to work towards being the best elementary school.
