What are we learning about this week?
Below are some questions you can ask to help practice this skill this week:
What happened when ___?
What happened after ___?
What can you infer about the conflict in the story?
What can you infer about the resolution in the story?
What can you infer about the ending or the outcome of the story?Math: We will be wrapping up Unit 2 this week and delving into Unit 3 by the end of the week. Unit 3 reviews place value, multi-digit addition/subtractions, and problem solving. Students will be to the idea of rounding 2-and3- digit numbers to the nearest ten and the nearest hundred.
Science: We will start our second science unit, Earth's Interactions, this week and really excited about it!
This week students will:
Explore and record how the weathering of rock forms soil.
Students observe and record how soil can be formed from the decomposition of plant material. They will create a habitat for worms and they will make observations for weeks to come!
Students identify, describe and compare different landforms and physical environments.
Student Site They will need their Google login for access to this site.
Habit 2: This week we are reviewing Habit 1 – Be Proactive (You are in charge of yourself) and Habit 2 – Begin with the End in Mind (Have a plan). By now your student should know what’s in their circle of control and understand their class mission statement.
If a smooth morning is the goal at home and mornings are a struggle for your child, ask them if they are being proactive. It’s vital to teach kids to take responsibility for their own choices. You might make it a family mission for your student to “Begin with the end in Mind”by laying out their clothes for tomorrow and packing that backpack before they go to bed. Doing so will certainly help your day start out right.
I encourage you to partner with us in teaching your student to practice The Seven Habits at home. To learn more about The Seven Habits and how they can be used at home, visit "Parent's Place" at http://www.theleaderinme.org/parents/
