Updates from Manassas Park Middle School - 1/4/2019
Weeks 17 & 18 - Winter Break Edition!
January has some very important academic events, with 8th grade students taking their Science and Social Studies SOLs on January 17th, and the first semester ending for all students on January 24th.
Check on your child's grades and attendance. The first semester grade represents 50% of the total grade for the school year. When looking in powerschool, check each class to make sure all work has been turned in - that's the first step to maximizing academic performance!
Secondly, please work to have your child attend school every day on time (7:25 am.) Daily attendance is critical to student learning, and it is also something that Virginia is now using to measure the quality and success of schools. When your child is sick with a fever or other significant sign of illness, they should be kept home. Otherwise, it is important to work on developing grit to teach your child to be able to work through the day with a light headache or stuffy nose. If they need to go to a doctor/dentist appointment, please have them in school before/after the appointment so they receive as much time in school as possible!
