All 2nd and 4th grade students in Fulton County Schools will complete the MAP Growth Assessment. The MAP Assessment is a computer-adaptive test that measures a student's skills in Reading and Math. MAP Growth is a nationally normed assessment, which provides schools with performance norms by utilizing data from more than 10 million U.S. students. Teachers can use the results to help inform instruction, personalize learning, and monitor the growth of individual students. MAP Growth is not used as a part of a student's grade. MAP Growth can be used as a criterion for TAG eligibility. Students will complete the reading test October 3rd, 4th, and 5th and math will be administered October 13th, 14th, and 17th.
Our Kindergartners will be participating in their iReady Diagnostic Assessment this week.

Campus Traffic Update:
Wolf Creek ES is a right turn ONLY facility. This is per the traffic laws in this city. While we do understand that it is an inconvenience for those stakeholders entering from the south end of Derrick Road, this is the law. We also understand that it has been allowed for many years, however, this is the law. The encouraged traffic pattern for access to this facility is as follows:
1. Take Stonewall Tell Road to South Fulton Parkway
2. Turn Right onto South Fulton Parkway
3. Turn right onto Derrick Road
4. Turn right onto campus at 4440 Derrick Road, Wolf Creek ES
Please note: We ask that you “pack your patience” if you will be dropping off or picking up your child. Please understand that we are short one Police Officer . We appreciate your thoughtfulness as you drop off in the morning. Though the car rider line will remain somewhat long, the flow of traffic moves faster as parents receive car rider decals. If you plan to come inside the school, please park in the large parking lot and report to the front lobby. Masks are strongly encouraged. Please use the parking spaces provided and adhere to the directions of the officers and staff on duty.

Fall Celebration - Trunk or Treat
On Thursday October 27th from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM we will host our Fall Celebration event.- our Annual Trunk or Treat! Stakeholders are invited to submit an application to have a car with a decorated trunk lined up to pass out candy treats. All candy treats should be store bought and in the original wrapper.
We are also collecting donations of candy to spread the Fall cheer as students move through the Trunk or Treat activity. Donations of candy can be submitted to the front office. We will divide donated candy between all grades for the event. Each grade level and various departments will have cars represented in the Trunk or Treat line-up.
Stay tuned for more information.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the upcoming holidays, it important to remind parents and families that candy, desserts, baked goods (store bought/homemade), or any other edible items are not to be sold or distributed at school or on the bus unless approved in advance by school administration. Per our Student Code of Conduct, students who do not adhere to this expectation are subject to disciplinary action for violation 7A: Failure to Follow Rules and all candy or food items will be confiscated. Please discuss this expectation and possible consequences with your student(s) as this will be taken very seriously. This is due to recent national and state reports about students sharing edible items and synthetic medications with other students that contain very harmful substances.
Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!

School Parent and Student Handbook/Discipline Tidbits
We ask that parents review the Parent Student Handbook in its entirety. The handbook is attached for your reference.
Please review the dress code for students:
SCHOOL UNIFORM DRESS CODE We dress for success at WCES! Students in the Fulton County school system are expected to dress and groom in such a way as to reflect neatness, cleanliness, and safety. All students should dress appropriately so as not to disrupt or interfere with the educational program or the orderly operation of the school. WCES students and staff participate in a school wide uniform program. Students are strongly encouraged to wear uniforms Monday through Thursday. Uniform bottom (pants/skirt) color is khaki which may be worn with a navy blue, kelly green, or white top. There is not a uniform shoe color or type requirement. Fridays are school spirit days and we ask that all stakeholders support this community by wearing WCES t-shirts and jeans. Attire that is inappropriate include:
• Any “short-short” attire (shorts, skirts, dresses that do not pass the finger-tip-test)
• Spaghetti straps
• Strapless shirts
• Tight fitting apparel
• Leggings without shirts that cover appropriately
• Clothing with inappropriate advertisements
• Pants/shorts worn below the waistline
• Flip flops and/or strapless shoes
• Halter-tops or shirts exposing the midriffs
• Frayed jeans or holes in jeans that show skin
• "see-through" clothing or apparel which designates gangs or similar organizations or any dress that is disruptive to the educational process
School Administration will make reasonable accommodations regarding a student's religious beliefs and/or medical condition. In support of our learning environment, we also ask that all adults, parents and visitors wear appropriate attire in the building. We are role models for our students, and we always set an example for them. We asked that all stakeholders dress appropriately so as not to disrupt or interfere with the educational program or the orderly operation of the school. No sleepwear or pajamas, revealing attire, or clothing with profane/inappropriate language, please.
Bus Safety
Please review the WCES PBIS bus behavior matrix included in this newsletter with your child. Students are expected to behave appropriately on the school bus. Inappropriate behavior leads to safety concerns. We want all students to enjoy a safe ride to and from school. See the FCS safety video at the link included here:

School Nutrition Department
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Thank you for your continued efforts with the Free or Reduced Price Meal Eligibility Program. We have processed many applications, but there are still households who have not applied for free or reduced price meal benefits for the 2022-2023 School Year. The goal of the School Nutrition Department is to identify and provide all eligible students meal benefits. To do that your continued support is needed.
Fulton County receives funding from a variety of federal grants based on the number of children in the district that qualify for Free or Reduced priced meals, regardless if they choose to participate in the meal program. Many federal grant awards are allocated nationally to public school districts based on Free and Reduced percentages such as Title-1, E-RATE, and The National Direct Teacher Loan Cancellation Program.
FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEAL BENEFITS
To receive free or reduced price meal benefits for students each household must complete a new application every year. If your household has not reapplied for SY 2022-2023, there has been an interruption in your student’s benefits. The household is responsible for payment of meals until the Free and Reduced Application is approved. Household must complete an online application at www.fulton.schoollunchapp.com. Be sure to list all the students in the household on the application.
If you have any questions, please call the Fulton County School Nutrition Program – Meal Eligibility Desk at (470)254-2220 or schoolnutrition@fultonschools.org.

Here Comes The Bus!
Program FAQs
Here Comes the Bus has how-to videos for using the app on a mobile device and a computer.
How do I sign up?
- Download the Here Comes The Bus app on Google Play or the Apple App Store or visit www.herecomesthebus.com.
- Click the "Sign Up" button
- Enter school code: 87428
- Click "Next" followed by "Confirm"
- Complete the "User Profile" box
- Under "My Students," click "Add." Enter your child's last name and student ID number
- Once you confirm you information, you're ready to go!
How does "Here Comes the Bus" work?
"Here Comes the Bus" uses global positioning system (GPS) technology to locate and track your child’s school bus. It is powered by software from Synovia Solutions, who are experts at tracking data, which they’ve been providing to fleet managers across North America for over 15 years.
How much does it cost?
"Here Comes the Bus" is available at no cost to all families. It's free!
Do I need separate accounts for each of my children? Or separate accounts if we all want to be notified separately?
You and your children can access all the information about the buses you need using just one "Here Comes the Bus" account.
Is the information private and secure?
"Here Comes the Bus" uses HTTPS, just like a bank or online store, which means that all communications between your web browser and the site is encrypted and secure. (That’s what the S in “HTTPS” stands for – secure.)
I saw a Student Ridership feature on the app. Does Fulton County Schools use this?
Student Ridership is student-tracking software that can be accessed through the "Here Come the Bus" app. It enables parents to see when their child has scanned on and off the bus. At this time, Fulton County Schools has not decided to offer this option.
Can I view the website in a language other than English?
Yes. The "Here Comes the Bus" program was created by Synovia Solutions, and the company has made the website available in Spanish and French. If your computer is already set to display one of these languages, the website will automatically use the same language. Otherwise, you can change the language by clicking the current language (such as English) at the top right of the web page.
