Dr. Jason Haniger, Barry Principal, Resigns
Dr. Jason Haniger, Barry Principal, announced that he will be leaving Platte County School District following this school year to take a new opportunity with Maquette Advisors. Dr. Haniger has served as Barry Principal since 2020 and shares, "This was and is an extremely difficult decision for my family. I am an educator at heart and love to teach, coach, and serve others. I have loved getting to serve this community over the past two years while fostering relationships with students, staff, and parents. It has been an honor to serve as Barry's leader, and I am wishing you all continued success."

On Monday May 16th from 5 pm - 7 pm, Barry will host a Cultural Fair. ALL are welcome to this free event!
Would you like to share your culture and/or heritage with the Barry community? Staff, students/families, and student groups are all welcome to sign up to present a country. To do so, please fill out the form.
6th grade choir will also perform alongside our 5th graders at this event as well.

Online Re-enrollment/Proof of Residency for Existing Students Now Open
Resident parents of existing K-11th grade students are asked to complete online re-enrollment forms and electronic proof of residency.
- Please log on to Parent Portal to complete the re-enrollment process by May 15, 2022. Click here for a step-by-step guide with screenshots.

PCHS Summer School Enrollment/Driver's Ed Interest
PCHS Summer School enrollment and Driver's Education interest forms are now open via the links below. Click here for more information on PCHS Summer School and Driver's Ed. PCHS Summer School enrollment will be open until May 20 or until courses are full. The Driver's Ed interest form will be open until April 29. All interested applicants will be placed in a lottery system where up to 50 students will be randomly selected and accepted into the program.
8th Graders: PCHS is Now Accepting Applications for AVID Elective
Platte County High School is now accepting applications for next year’s AVID elective course for incoming freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Families of 8th graders were sent this information on Wednesday of this week. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), is a school-wide approach to help all students become better prepared and equipped for the path they choose after high school. Students have been informed about the AVID elective and are encouraged to speak with their families about this opportunity. An Evening of Jazz (Repeat)
"An Evening of Jazz" is an annual fundraiser for the PCHS Jazz Band. The north gym at PCHS is transformed into a Jazz Club. It's the perfect night out! Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. For tickets contact Dr. Matt Bonsignore: 816-858-2822 ext. 1270.

Mental health and coping skills resources
Check out the California Healthy Kids, Thriving Minds, Project website. You'll find a series of free, evidence-based video and print resources that caregivers and educators can use to teach their kids critical mental health and coping skills.
Rent and Utility Assistance
The State Assistance for Housing Relief (SAFHR) for Renters program provides rent and utility assistance for eligible Missouri residents who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Treasure Chest (Repeat)
The Treasure Chest is our school district resource center. It is a stocked pantry providing food, clothing, toiletries, and other household supplies. All items in the Treasure Chest are free to PCR-3 students and families who participate in the Free or Reduced School Lunch Program. The Treasure Chest is open for shopping every week of the calendar year on Wednesday evenings from 4pm-6pm. Families must register at the following link or call 816.858.7001 weekly so we can appropriately plan for resources. Once approved, families can drive through at the original Treasure Chest site (in the north parking lot of PCHS). Identification must be provided in order to receive food.
