DID YOU KNOW?
- It takes 5 credits to be a sophomore.
- It takes 12 credits to be a junior.
- It takes 18 credits to be a senior.
- It takes 26 credits to graduate.
Students can earn up to 8 credits per year!
Attendance Matters! Please help us to reach our 90% attendance goal!
Senior Parent FAFSA Completion Nights - We Need YOU!
All senior students have had the opportunity to attend our FAFSA Fair (Oct. 11th) to start his/her portion of the FAFSA. Now it is YOUR turn! We are asking that you complete the parent portion one of three ways:
- Attend the Parent FAFSA Frenzy on October 26th from 5:00 - 7:00pm in the Ruskin Media Center.
- Schedule an appointment to meet with Ms. Foster (College Advisor) to complete it.
- Log in from home/work to www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete it!
We will have one additional date in December (TBD) as well as February 15th and 16th Parent Conferences that you can complete this as well. Don't wait!
ACT Test Dates
All JUNIORS should plan to take the ACT at least once during the second semester. Those test dates are:
- February 9th (deadline to sign up is January 12th)
- April 14th (deadline to sign up is March 9th)
- June 9th (deadline to sign up is May 4th)
NOTE: All students receive 2 free test vouchers. See Ms. Foster to sign up!
Need extra ACT practice?
1.) Attend one of the ACT Bootcamps hosted this year at Ruskin. The dates for these are December 5th and April 11th. Students can visit with Ms. Foster to add their name to the list.
2.) USA Test Prep - Your student can talk to his/her Math, English, or Social Studies teacher to gain access to USA Test Prep. This site contains prep activities and questions that students can use from school or home.
3.) PLATO - All students have access to PLATO - our online learning system. We have an ACT Prep class available on PLATO in all four subject areas. Students can work through the practice modules and then take a practice ACT test. Students should see Ms. Lina Smith or Ms. Richmond-Jackson to request their log-in.

Class of 2018 Checklist
- Meet or exceed the 26 credit requirement needed for GRADUATION
- Take the ACT at least once during your senior year
- Submit your FAFSA
- Apply to a minimum of 3 colleges
- Make your final decisions about post-secondary plans no later than March 1st
- Have a generic scholarship essay

- Traditional Scholarship - Up to $10,000 awarded annually to JUNIORS attending a 4 year college/university (We had 4 winners last year!)
