Are you on a path to Mastery? For real or just sort of?
Last week Don shared the first of a series on the Morning Routine. This week let's take a quick dive into Mastery as part of his series.
When Don talked about the morning routine and its super powers in the Installation, we suggest reading something inspirational every day. On Day 2 we read Mastery by Stewart Emery. As we say in the Installation, this piece has many years worth of wisdom imbedded in it. It is worth a few hundred reads from our perspective.
In paragraph one, there is a sentence that reads,
"For most people, it starts with technical excellence in a chosen field and a commitment to that excellence."
Obviously for us, that field is real estate.
Thought of the week: Read Mastery every day for one month.
GLVR staff has worked for several months with RE/Advantage, a company that specializes in highly visual and motivating real estate websites as well as social media solutions for REALTORS®, on a sleeker-looking widget that blends nicely into the Association’s redesigned website, which was launched in July 2018.
The functionality of the widget remains the same, with search options available for properties, open houses and REALTORS®.
Should you have any questions about the search widget or if you experience any technical difficulties, contact MLSSupport@GLVR.org. 3Seed Marketing, GLVR’s website vendor, will install the new widget around 10 a.m.
Tight Housing Inventory, Stiff Competition – How Homebuyers Can Best Navigate the Market
Baby boomers and millennials are going head-to-head when home shopping. Here’s how everyone can win.
Ah, the amenities of city living. Restaurants, theater and entertainment all within walking distance. Sound appealing? Millennials and baby boomers sure think so.
When it comes to house hunting, the two generations – millennials, age 23-38, and baby boomers, age 55-75 – have more in common than ever before. In fact, the 2018 National Association of Realtors (NAR) Home Buyer and Seller Generational Trends Report found that the average size of home purchased between the groups was nearly identical, and the median price of the home purchased was comparable despite the difference in life stages between these two groups.
“Right now, both generations of homebuyers are going for the smaller updated ranch with the price point being in their first house or downsize range,” said Denis Murphy, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Unlimited in Bohemia, New York, of the trend in his market.
With housing inventory remaining tight in recent years, millennials and baby boomers are often going head-to-head when making offers on a limited number of homes. Both generations can come out winners, and happy homeowners, if they navigate the housing market correctly.
5 Creative Ideas to Improve Your Workflow
Long days, early hours, weekend appointments—your workflow as a real estate professional can sometimes feel endless. Consider a few of the following creative ideas to boost productivity and ease the daily strain of your work.
Set the stage. If you’re having trouble focusing during long days, consider setting your space to promote a smoother workflow. Make sure your desktop is free or clutter. Include a visual cue that brings you joy, like fresh cut flowers or a piece of art you love, and consider changing the lighting to something more soothing.
Add a smell. Numerous studies have shown that certain scents can improve productivity. Among the common boosters are lavender, lemon, jasmine, rosemary, cinnamon and peppermint. Consider grabbing an essential oil and dabbing your wrists before you begin work, or burning a candle when you’re struggling to focus—just be sure your office-mates don’t mind.
Create a ritual. Incorporating ritual into your workday is a great way to stay on top of things. Start your day with a 10-minute meditation, reading a short a chapter from an inspirational book, or any other idea that moves you. Consider scheduling three 15-minute breaks into your day where you’re free to sip your favorite tea and peruse the news, call a friend, or walk around the block.
Change spaces. A great way to alert your body and mind of the task at hand is to create separate workstations for tasks. This may be easier for those who work at home and can move from the office to the dining room or kitchen table, but even if you work in an office, consider how you can break your space up. It may even be as simple as opening or closing blinds during specific tasks, or re-angling your laptop and chair to face a different direction.
Reward yourself. Take 15 minutes to half an hour at the end of each work day to reward your daily accomplishments. Sink that 30 minutes into a passion project, a journal entry, calling a friend, or popping on a favorite podcast.
The Gratitude Challenge
When it comes to gratitude, it's not just the thought that counts. Engaging, encouraging, thanking, and connecting with people depends upon acting on your gratitude.
Unexpressed gratitude produces nothing and influences nothing, but when it is transmitted in the world, it has a tremendous and transformative power.
Are you prepared with the words and deeds to express your feelings? Do you have a means to easily and clearly connect with people so that you're sure they receive your gratitude?
Do you have a system in place to remind you to get in the gratitude habit? If any of these components are missing, your best intentions can go unfulfilled.
Even if you've been a little remiss on distributing your power, don't worry-you can always improve, beginning today. Just 10 minutes a day writing a nice note or making a call can add up to more than 60 hours a year of building genuine connections through gratitude.
Why not send someone an email right now? It's easy:
1.Think of someone who you're grateful for.
2.Paste this line into your email message: Just wanted to let you know how grateful I am that...
3...then finish the sentence. It doesn't have to be an essay. It doesn't have to be a big deal. It does have to be honest.
I challenge you to do this once a day for the next thirty days. I suspect you will be amazed by the results.
Energy Tip Of The Week
Natural ventilation relies on the wind and the "chimney effect" to keep a home cool. Natural ventilation works best in climates with cool nights and regular breezes. Use the cooler nights of spring to your advantage by cracking open your home windows.
