West Genesee Central School District is Closed Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
- Schools will remain closed through April 13, 2020.

- The District is providing meals to students who have registered. Click here for Food Distribution information and updates.
- In order to comply with the recent NYS directive that includes essential workers, social distancing, and other parameters to the health of our communities, all District facilities, indoor and out, are closed at this time. We look forward to when our fields, playgrounds, and other common meeting places become utilized. Until then, these areas are closed.
Senior Receives National Gold Medal for Artwork
West Genesee High School senior, Hailey Kremenek, received a Gold Medal for her piece “Vessel” in the National Scholastics Art and Writing Award Competition.
This national award demonstrates high honors and achievement on the national level. She is the first West Genesee High School student to garner this honor. Congratulations!
West Genesee Musicians Attend Eastern Region Choral Convention
Six West Genesee musicians were selected to attend the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) Eastern Region 2020 Convention in Rochester, New York on March 4-7.
Angelo Procopio (CMS 8th grade) and Olivia Frizzi (WGHS 9th grade) attended. The following students were selected, but were unable to attend: Daniel Alvaro (CMS 8th grade), Sean Alvaro (WGHS 9th grade), Holden Leonard (WGHS 9th grade), and Margaret Mello (WGHS 9th grade).
WGHS Decathlon Team Competed at State Level
The NYS Academic Decathlon competition originally scheduled for February 7-8 in Brockport was rescheduled due to weather. It was held on February 26 at West Genesee High School.
Students from West Genesee, Westhill, and Cazenovia HIgh Schools along with Mesa Charter School (from Brooklyn, New York via video conference) competed.
The Super Quiz format was changed from individual to team scores. West Genesee earned 3rd place in the super quiz, as well as 3rd place overall at the state competition.

WGHS Students Recognized in the 2019-2020 Optimist International Essay Contest
West Genesee High School had nine students participate in the 2019-2020 Optimist International Essay Contest sponsored by our local Camillus Optimist Club.
“Is Optimism the Key to Achieving the Dreams you Imagine?” was the topic this year.
Hannah Craybas and Easha Sureshkumar Nair placed first. Sureshkumar Nair’s essay will be submitted to the next level to compete at the District Level.

National Honor Society for Dance Arts Students Create and Donate Comfort Cases
This year the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), under the leadership of Caroline Brackett, Dance Educator/Chapter Sponsor West Genesee High School, participated in “Dance A Difference Week” from March 1-7.
This was a week of dance-based community service spread throughout the nation and was sponsored by the National Dance Education Organization. The students from West Genesee created “Comfort Cases: Inspiring Communities to Bring Dignity and Hope to Youth in Foster Care” for their community outreach project.

District Calendar for 2020-2021 Approved at BOE Meeting
The District Calendar for the 2020-2021 school year was approved by the Board of Education at their meeting on March 18, 2020.
The calendar is now available on the website by clicking here.
Kindergarten Registration Extended through April 30, 2020
Kindergarten Registration for the 2020-2021 school year began on December 3, 2019 and has been extended to April 30, 2020 at the Central Registrar Office located at 300 Sanderson Drive, Camillus, NY 13031.
