YE Club Advisor's Newsletter
Genesee County
Latest Update on the YE Club for Club Advisors:
Below are the things you need to know about how we will wrap-up the 2020 YE Clubs and what the expectations will be to finish the year:
1. The Youth Entrepreneurship Club will continue the work we started. An OPEN MINI-VIDEO PITCH COMPETITION will replace the cancelled live event originally scheduled for May 7, 2020. The entire event will take place online including judging.
2. Any High School student (even if they were not in the club) from your High School can submit a 60-90 second video pitch based on the directions below.
3. The Club Advisor's responsibilities have adapted to fit the 'Stay Home. Stay Safe' Executive Orders from the Governor.
Club Advisor Expectations between now and the end of the year will include:
1. Market: Get the word out!
Advisors are expected to advertise and market the competition using their district website, communication to staff, etc.. and any other platform so students can get the information on the competition. Teachers could use this as a project for a class or highlight as an extra assignment if appropriate.
2. Set up, Communicate and Maintain Office Hours
Advisors are expected to set regular office hours (minimum of 2 hours per week-one day or two separate days) to assist students in creating video, answering questions about the competition or referring students to resources. Please let Gia know when you are holding office hours and update the (Google doc).
3. Review Submissions
Advisors will need to review and preview ALL videos submitted from their school to make sure they are appropriate and have the necessary information submitted through google forms.
3.Judge for District Winners
Advisors are expected to serve on a team to help judge videos (for another district) and assist in determining district winners. We will assign you a team with a rubric for judging as it gets closer to the end of the competition.
Once the district winners are established, another set of judges will determine the TOP 5 Winners for the county. These winners do not qualify for the New York City Competition.
**Just like last year, please complete the necessary paperwork for your district to reimburse you as a club advisor. Your business office will be reimbursed your reimbursement as well as materials and supplies up to $300.00. Please work with your business office to turn in receipts for reimbursement**
