LVE Students Prepare for MAP Testing
We hope that all of you had a relaxing, fun-filled spring break. The fourth quarter has arrived, and the students and staff at Lakeview have hit the ground running. It’s hard to believe, but the end of the 2018-2019 school year is just around the corner. It is important to maintain our momentum and focus throughout this final home stretch. Our teachers and students are diligently focusing on curriculum and grade level expectations to ensure that we finish the year on a high note. We appreciate all of your efforts in supporting this journey to excellence!
Beginning April 17, Lakeview students in Grades 3-6 will participate in the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP). MAP is one way we measure student achievement, as well as our progress with curricular and state goals and standards. The MAP Grade-Level Assessment will be administered online. Our MAP schedule/window will extend from the last half of April through the first half of May. Please refer to your child's classroom newsletter for detailed information about your child's testing schedule.
Please help our students shine by making sure they get plenty of rest each night and have a healthy breakfast each day. We also ask that you ensure that your child arrives at school each day on time, and we kindly suggest that you avoid scheduling appointments during testing hours. Finally, we recommend that you talk to your child about doing his or her best on the test, but not to the extent that he or she is worried or stressed. This is not a test for which students study; it is a chance for them to show what they know!
For further information, please review the LVE 2019 MAP Parent/Guardian Letter as well as the MAP Information for Parents sheet from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

News from Child Nutrition
For the remainder of the school year, the lunch menu will consist of one popular item and a Manager's Special. This is in an effort to control the food cost for the remainder of the year, as schools are trying to use their current inventory.
The menus have been changed in Nutrislice and are visible to parents.
Seeking Lunch and Recess Supervisor
We are still looking to fill one lunch and recess supervisor opening at Lakeview. Our lunch and recess supervisors work from 10:15 AM to 1:15 PM each day and assist with supervision on late start mornings. This position is paid an hourly wage. We have been very fortunate to have had these positions filled by many wonderful Lakeview parents, and we hope to continue that tradition. If you are interested and/or would like additional information, please contact Mr. Holler (douglasholler@wsdr4.org) or Dr. Rowe (laurarowe@wsdr4.org).
