1. What caused the U.S. to enter WW1? German submarine's sank many ships carrying Americans, including Lusitania. The second thing that caused them to join the war, was when Germany sent a coded telegram to Mexico, promising them land they lost in the U.S.-Mexican War, if they sided with Germany.
2. How did Texas play an important role during the War? Texas was an important location during the war to train and equip soldiers. Recruits trained to be soldiers at camps near Fort Worth, Waco, Houston, and San Antonio. The railroad network in Texas helped move men and equipment quickly.
3. How did WW1 end? In the end 5,000 Texan soldiers had died. On November 11, 1918, Germany surrendered, and later on everyone signed the treaty of Versailles.

1. How did FDR, (Franklin Delano Roosevelt) pull the country out of depression? he created federal government jobs for the jobless men, which brought them out of the depression.
2. What caused the Dust Bowl and how did it affect farmers in Texas? The dust bowl was caused when farmers over planted wheat. Many of the farmers in Texas lost their land or abandoned their land.
3.Which New Deal programs were important to Texas. The Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA), Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC),National Youth Administration (NYA), Public Works Administration (PWA), and the Progress Administration (WPA), were important programs to Texas.
4. How were tenant farmers and miners affected by the Great Depression? The tenant farmers and miners were barley affected because there situation wasn't much worse than in previous years.

Oveta Culp Hobby: In 1941 the army asked Hobby to organize a corps of nearly 200,000 women to serve in noncombat roles in the military. Hobby was assigned the rank of colonel and commanded this new Women’s Army Corps (WAC) throughout the war.
Sailor Dorie Miller: Like other African Americans, was assigned to a noncombat job. However, he went into action fighting the Japanese during their sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. Miller was awarded the Navy Cross for his heroism during that battle.

1. How did Texas contribute to the nation’s military effort in fighting World War II? The people of Texas were very volunteering to join the war. Out of every state Texas had the most people to join the war. Texas also served as a location to train soldiers and prepare for the war.
2.How did life change for Texans on the home front during World War II? Many Texans feared attacks from the sky or from sea. They would practice taking cover and practice blackouts. The federal government set limits on how much sugar, meat, canned goods, shoes, rubber, and other items people were allowed to consume. Texans dealt with food shortages, in part, by growing their own food. Victory Gardens sprang up in backyards in towns and cities across the state.
3.How did WWII end? After the U.S. dropped the two bombs over Japan, Japan surrendered and the war officially ended.
