Parametrics and Polars and Vectors, Oh My!!

This workshop will focus on the Precalculus TEKS for these three topics. We will write parametric functions and graph them. Vector graphing, addition,and model situations will be expored. We also will consider polar functions and their graphs. Real world situations will be investigated for all three functions.
Formative Assessment in Mathematics: Studying Student Work
August 1-2, 2016
This training will provide grades 4-8 math teachers with strategies and tools to foster highly effective formative assessment teaching practices in classroom. Participants will view and discuss video cases, examine student work and share professional development learning cycles to support teachers in enacting formative assessment practices with their students. This workshop awards 10 hours Math CPE Credit, and 6 hours GT Update Credit.

2016 Region 5 Curriculum Conference

Sheltered Instruction Plus

Sheltered Instruction Plus emphasizes research-based strategies to help students improve their comprehension and academic English communication skills. During the training, we practice multiple sheltered strategies and participants will leave prepared to implement them in their own classrooms. Participants will receive the book, Sheltered Instruction Plus, which is a compilation of techniques and planning templates to use when integrating the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) in any content area classroom and any grade level, K-12.

WeTeach_CS Certification Prep – Online Course
WeTeach_CS Certification Prep is a comprehensive, six-week program that prepares teachers to take and pass the Texas Education Agency’s 8-12 Computer Science Certification Test. It reviews all the main concepts covered in the three certification domains: Software Design and Development, Programming Language topics, and Technology Applications. Educators with at least some prior experience in coding or programming interested in becoming certified to teach Grades 8-12 Computer Science are eligible to attend.
