Classroom Guidance Lessons Are Coming Soon!
Dear Ben Franklin Families,
Classroom guidance lessons will begin soon in your child's class! I am currently surveying the different grade levels to find out what topics are on their wish lists for lessons. Going into the classrooms to interact with students and work side by side with teachers is a fun and positive way for the children to get to the know the counselor on a more personal level.
It has always been a goal for me to know every student by name and be able to greet them as our paths cross during the school day. Building relationships with students strengthens overall academic and social emotional growth. In this manner, the school counselor also helps to establish a school climate in which all students feel welcome and safe.
Classroom guidance lessons take place during a time that is chosen by your child's teacher. Lessons typically last 30 - 40 minutes and include a variety of activities such as a story, song, craft, role-play, partner work, and large and small group discussions. Teachers are encouraged to collaborate with the school counselor by reinforcing concepts taught during these in class lessons.
I look forward to visiting your child's classroom in the near future!
Thank you for your continued support of the Guidance Program.
Take care,
Dawn Wolf
School Counselor
