The Cardiovascular System
By Peter Goldsborough
The circulatory system runs all throughout the body.
Functions Of The Lymphatic System
- Moves excess fluids from the body's tissue into the circulatory system.
- Cleans the blood from toxic systems.
- Prevents tissues from becoming swollen.
- Important part of the immune system.
Functions Of The Organs
Lymph Nodes
- Cleans the body.
- Filters foreign particles from the lymph.
- Fights bacteria.
- Types of tissues or cells are the lymphocytes and the lymph.
Thymus
- Produces T cells for the immune system.
Spleen
- Produces blood cells and forms part of the immune system.
Diseases and Health
- Hodgkin's Lymphoma: Unknown cause. Symptoms include fatigue, fever and chills. It is treated with radiation and drugs. Chiefs player Eric Berry had it.
- Glandular Fever
- Oedema
- Tonsillitis
- You could live without some parts of the system, such as the spleen.
How the Lymphatic System Interacts with Other Systems.
- Lymphatic vessels collect intercellular fluid, kill bad things and return it to the circulatory system.
- The lymphatic system helps clean up the circulatory system.
- Those two systems do the body's waste removal and blood circulatory duties. They are also known as one big system called the Cardiovascular system.
