Coolest Kid in School
One of the first things I'll be doing this summer is attending Warped Tour 2016. Warped Tour is an annual summer festival that travels all across the world. I've been going for four years, and have been to six shows, two being out of state. This year, I will be attending the Dallas and St. Petersburg, FL dates. I'm excited for this year because the line up is perfect. There's tons of my favorite bands going, including The Maine, Tonight Alive, State Champs, Set it Off, and New Found Glory. I'm getting to meet up with some of my best friends. I just know these shows are going to be the highlight of my summer.
Since I turned fifteen a little over a month ago, I've been working at AMC Grapevine 30. When I'm not on vacation or attending a show, I'll most likely be working all day. I'm working both concessions and ushering. It's not all that exciting, but I'm making my own money, which I think is fantastic.
My mom, step dad, and older brother all live in Palm Harbor, Florida. Because of this, I get to visit them for some holidays, as well as certain months in the summer. I'm going to be staying with them from late June to early July. While I'm there, I'll be attending Warped Tour with my brother, hanging out at their backyard beach, shopping, and cooking with my mom. Last I was there, my mom and now step dad were getting married, so I'm very ready to see how their handling the married life.
When the band announced their 'A Couple Nights in Texas' tour, I almost immediately bought my tickets. Luckily for me, they were performing over spring break, and since they weren't coming to Dallas, I drove all the way to San Antonio to see them perform. I brought a friend along, and the trip brought her and I closer, as well caused her to fall just in love with The Maine as I did.
When we arrived, we actually both bumped into the guys walking to the venue. So, we walked with them. It was nice to get to see them again so early, and it made for great conversation while we waited five hours in line.
Once time came for doors to open, we rushed inside and got barricade. I enjoyed both local opening acts, and I loved them both so much, that I actually continue to listen to them to this day. The best act, of course was The Maine, though. I've never felt as home as I do when I'm standing in a room, singing along to their songs with people who love them just as much as I do.
Afterward, they had their usual free meet and greet. This time, I got to meet all five guys, instead of just two. I wasn't rushed like I was back at Free for All. I took all the time I needed, and it was like hanging out with old friends.
Honestly, my entire freshman year was made because I discovered this band. They truly have made me a better person, more comfortable with myself, and introduced me to some of the best people I will ever meet. I am eternally grateful for them.
