Charlie Chalicotherium

Lived 45-3.5 million years ago.

During the Cenozoic Era and Tertiary Period.

Charlie Chalicotherium lived by himself in Kazakhstan, leaving no direct relatives. The closest relatives

Charlie has are horses and rhinos. He did not have any teeth in the front on his upper

jaw and his back teeth showed little wear, because of his food preferences. Charlie was

a herbivore whose diet consisted mostly of soft shoots, like a panda. His teeth were

pebble like which is where the name Chalicotherium comes from. In Greek it means

“pebble beast”.

Charlies front legs were much longer than his hind legs. He could not

put his front feet flat on the ground, due to his long claws.
