Miss Gadomski (Autism Program teacher) led a schoolwide initiative in recognition of Autism Awareness Month. Many of our students volunteered to show how they care for self and others (one of our Full Values) by taking a pledge to accept others as they are!

Students were asked to trace and decorate their "hand" which then became part of the big, beautiful, flower bulletin board outside Miss Gadomski's classroom. Miss Gadomski added, "It was heartwarming to see our students come together and participate in such a selfless art project. It was also a fun and relaxing activity after PARCC."

Species on the Edge Contest ~ Way to go, Devon!

This past winter, Mrs. Reinmund, Mrs. Scully, and Mrs. Bosch introduced the Species on the Edge Art and Essay Contest to fifth grade students.

Participating students wrote an essay and created artwork depicting an endangered animal.

Eight of our students entered the contest. These students put in many hours of work and their finished products demonstrated just that!

One student from each county was chosen as a first place winner and Stonybrook's own Devon P. was named the winner for Morris County! Devon will be honored at an awards ceremony in Trenton on May 24th.

Congratulations to Devon and the following 5th grade participating students:

Alanna G.

Alexa G.

Emily O.

Julia M.

Jackson W.

Ashley C.

Thanks to Mrs. Reinmund, Mrs. Bosch, and Mrs. Scully for their leadership and support for our students!

On Thursday, May 6th, the Stonybrook School Student Council Officers and Representatives visited Borough Hall. The visit, coordinated by Student Council advisor, Mrs. West, was an exciting learning experience for our civic-minded young leaders. Councilman Freda joined the students and made sure their day was filled with lots of great learning!

We know that springtime weather is coming! Please take a moment to talk with your child about dressing appropriately for school. Consider the weather and use common sense in choosing school clothing.

The following are guidelines for basic dress:

  1. Regular T-shirts or tank tops are fine; crop tops are discouraged.
  2. No flip-flops or sandals with open backs! (They are unsafe during recess time.)

Thanks in advance for helping keep our students safe!
