The Life of Mozart
Mozart was born in 1756 in Salzburg, Austria. His father, Leopald, was a musician and he was very tough on Mozart, although he was a child prodigy. When Mozart was five years old, he wrote and composed a minuet. A year later, he performed at the Viennese Royal court in front of the queen. From then on, until he was ten, Mozart traveled around Europe to play in front of kings, emperors, and other royalty with his older sister. During these years Mozart wrote his first symphony. He was nine when he wrote it. During Mozart's life, he wrote over 600 pieces of music. He also had six children. Only two of them survived to be adults. On December 5, 1791, Mozart died from an illness that he had been fighting, at the age of 35.

This map is of Salzburg, Austria around the time of Mozart. Salzburg is Mozart's home and it was where he was born. Although he was born here, he did not live here his whole life. He traveled all around Europe performing in front of kings, emperors, and other royalty. After he traveled around Europe, he moved back to Salzburg, and was an organist at a church called the Archbishop of Salzburg. After a couple years he moved to Vienna, where he died ten years after getting married.

Symphony No. 41
Mozart wrote 41 symphonies and his last one was called symphony no. 41. It is very long and complex, and it has four parts. It was written by Mozart in 1788, which was three years before he died. People today named this piece "Jupiter", but when Mozart was alive that was not its name.

Mozart was a child prodigy, but his father was still very hard on him. When Mozart was very young, he wrote his first musical piece. It was very complex for his age. His father, being a professional musician, did not think his sons music was good. He thought it was too childish, so he told him in a very demanding way.
