Caterpillars change into Butterflies
Well, after a busy two weeks of observing and watching our caterpillars build a chrysalis, we have finally seen our caterpillars come alive in our classroom! It was an exciting last few days as each hour a new butterfly came out of its chrysalis. On Thursday afternoon we released 22 butterflies into nature! The kids were so captivated by these beautiful creatures. Please ask your child about their individual experiences.
Please dress for our crazy Chicago weather!
Writing
Our poetry unit will be wrapping up next week. The kids have been working on cinquain poems and haiku forms of poetry. We have been working hard and counting syllables, using sparkle words and using our imagination to create some wonderful poems. Please look next Friday for these poetry journals to make their way home.
Math
This week we have been working on adding two digit numbers plus one digit number without regrouping. We are also have been working on our fluency. Please continue to practice addition and subtraction facts with your child over the summer.
