Campus Connections

Message from Jeff and Yolanda
In addition to SLCs, LWTHS and 14 different programs from LWTC offered a Family Fun Night for all participants that same evening. Family Fun Night included games and activities put on by the different clubs and student groups at LWTHS. Additionally, the different programs represented from LWTC provided information to all participants as well as an opportunity to complete simulations related to the activities one would complete within the program. There were many highlights, but the welding simulator and cookie decoration with culinary were particularly popular that evening.
We thank all that were involved that evening. The event was a tremendous success providing a great avenue for families to discuss their students progression towards graduation and have some fun as well.
Wellness Corner
Relax, Rest, and Rejuvenate
As we push to meet quarterly goals with our students, we may need the time to rest and rejuvenate that Spring Break offers. But did you know, that resting, and in fact sleep, is considered the most important of the three pillars of good health along with diet and exercise, according to Matthew Walker, a professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. The latest information from Time Magazine reports, “Scientists are learning that shortchanging sleep can compromise nearly every major body system, from the brain to the heart to the immune system, making our inability--or unwillingness--to sleep enough one of the unhealthiest things we can do.”
To read the whole article on the latest research on the importance of sleep and rest to our well beings go to: http://time.com/4672988/the-sleep-cure-fountain-of-youth/
So don’t feel guilty – take a nap – and have a restful Spring Break.
