"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." -Helen Keller

Together we will find new and exciting ways to inspire students! I am looking forward to joining the Lancaster Middle School and Lancaster High School as the Library Media Specialist. Let me show you some of the things you can expect this year!

Collaboration with Schreiner Memorial Library

Our partnership with the Schreiner Memorial Library continues to develop. We are brainstorming a variety of ways to connect students and teachers with materials.

Currently a grant is in the works for the implementation of Maker Stations. If you would like more information about the Maker movement check out Make it at Your Library. Maker stations are a great way for us to individualize learning which naturally leads me to think of WIN time. I was able to visit Sector 67, a community hackerspace, this summer. The Bubbler at the Central Library in Madison is another great example of how we can incorporate STEM activities into our libraries.

Reps from the Library will be coming to school to help students set up libraries in their pocket. Once this happens I will encourage students to use their devices in the libraries to read. Until then we will have a no technology policy. I will be purchasing charging stations for students to charge up their devices during study halls and library visits. We are also researching tablet choices to use for tech activities in the library. Stay tuned for the this exciting change!
