Member of the Month- Olivia Dykes
Olivia is a Greenhand this year. She is currently raising 2 goats and she is on the quiz team. She also plans to be on the wool judging team this year. She says “To me the FFA jacket represents teamwork, leadership, learning, friendship and pride.” Besides FFA, she says “I love dance, fishing and the Astros. My goats are named Altuve and Bregman.”
Officer of the Month- Jr. Advisor- Kathleen Johnson
Hey y'all! My name is Kathleen Johnson and I'm your 2018-2018 Jr. Advisor. I have been in FFA since my freshman year, and I have loved every minute of it!! I started off by joining the livestock judging team, which than led me to showing goats, and then the wool judging team. This year I will be showing a goat for CCISD and Galveston County livestock show, along with wool judging for my second year. I'm so excited to be an officer this year and can't wait to see what comes!!!
FFA Fact
Did you know that the national FFA organization wasn’t officially established until 1928! Before we formed the national FFA the first form of a state FFA was Future Farmers of Virginia. Back then we didn’t realize we were starting something big and then officially started to accept female members in 1969! Now our organization has an increase in memberships from when we first started while rapidly growing our industry with the constantly changing world.
