In response to the pandemic, some colleges and universities are temporarily waiving their application fees. The University of South Alabama is waiving its undergraduate admissions application fee until May 1.
Also, due to the rescheduling of SAT/ACT testing dates, some schools are waiving their ACT/SAT test score requirements for admittance, including Auburn University at Montgomery and the University of Mobile.

Spring Hill Waives Enrollment Deposit!
SENIORS INTERESTED IN SPRING HILL OR ALREADY GOING TO SPRING HILL!
I hope everyone is well. The message below was sent to all of our accepted seniors, but I wanted to share with you all too. We are waiving our enrollment deposit so students and families can commit to SHC without having to spend extra money during these uncertain times.
This would also apply to any new applicants that may have been looking to leave the Mobile area, but now want to stay closer to home. As a rolling admission school, we are still accepting applications. Let me know if you have any questions!
Stay Safe,
Elizabeth
I understand you’re probably sad to miss your special senior events, your final tournament and maybe even your high school graduation ceremony. Even if you’re ready to be done with high school, you probably miss spending time with your friends and hanging out at your favorite spots around town. I’m on week 3 of working remotely, and I know I’m ready to be back on campus!
As we all stay home and do our part to hopefully shorten the impact of COVID-19, everyone is feeling the impact of these strange times in big ways. I want to help make earning your degree with us on The Hill something you can look forward to—a bright light at the end of the pandemic tunnel!
To make your college transition easier during these uncertain times, I’m rolling out the following promises:
● All deposit fees will be waived for students applying to our fall 2020 class.
● We will work with our students to build the best financial aid packages possible.
● Orientation programs will move online if needed.
● Screenshots will be accepted of official documents that may be hard to obtain right now.
● We will open registration early to allow you to move forward with the enrollment process sooner.
● Our admissions counselors are here for you via email, phone or text to guide you through.
In return, we need one simple thing from you. Please take a moment to fill out our very short intent to enroll form. This will officially take the place of your deposit and allow us to move you forward through the class registration process as soon as it opens.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Thank you and Go Badgers!

College Board Corona-virus Response: SAT Plans for the Remainder of 2020
IF ANYONE WAS PLANNING ON TAKING THE SAT, THIS IS THE MOST RECENT UPDATE.
Dear Colleagues,
We hope you're doing well during this challenging time. As the College Board continues to respond to the impact of the coronavirus, our thoughts are with you.
In the face of school closures, we’re adapting to give students opportunities to show their strengths and continue on the path to college. Our top priorities are the health and safety of students and educators.
Right now, public health officials have made it clear it's not safe to gather students in one place. Many U.S. states have closed schools for the rest of the academic year, and globally there are widespread school closures across 192 countries. As such, we won't be able to administer the SAT® and SAT Subject Tests™ as planned on June 6, 2020.
We're working hard to make the SAT available in school and out of school as soon as the public health situation allows. Students will have opportunities to take the SAT to make up for this spring’s lost administrations.
If it’s safe from a public health standpoint, we'll provide weekend SAT administrations every month through the end of the calendar year, beginning in August. This includes a new administration in September and the previously scheduled tests on August 29, October 3, November 7, and December 5.
Students will be able to register for these administrations beginning in May. We’ll communicate directly with students when the exact date is available. Eligible students will be able to take the exam with a fee waiver. Students who were registered for June and those in the high school class of 2021 who don't have SAT scores will have early access to registration for the August, September, and October administrations.
For each administration, we’re preparing to significantly expand our capacity for students to take the SAT when schools reopen. We’re calling on our member schools and colleges, as well as local communities, to open their doors and provide additional test center capacity so every student who wants to can take the SAT.
In addition, almost all of our state and many of our district partners have expressed their interest in providing SAT School Day administrations in September or October. Specific information about state and district testing will be shared in the coming weeks.
In the unlikely event that schools don't reopen this fall, the College Board will provide a digital SAT for home use, much as we’re delivering digital exams for three million Advanced Placement® students this spring. As we’re doing with at-home AP® Exams, we would ensure that at-home SAT testing is simple; secure and fair; accessible to all; and valid for use in college admissions.
We're committed to giving students as many chances as we can to show their strengths to admissions officers. As we navigate this evolving situation, we'll continue to rely on your partnership to ensure students have what they need as they apply to college during the 2020-21 school year.
We'll regularly update our webpage with information. Thank you for your partnership during this unprecedented time.
Sincerely,
College Board

JSU Admissions Counselor Virtual Visits
Greetings from the Friendliest Campus in the South!
As your school's Jacksonville State University Admissions Counselor, I wanted to reach out and extend my support during this unprecedented time. I know things can seem scary and unpredictable, but I am still working diligently to support my students and schools!
I wanted to offer some options for college visits for juniors and sophomores, as I know many schools begin this process this time of year! I will be more than happy to schedule live virtual visits with classes or groups of students on whichever virtual meeting platform is most convenient for you. I can also send pre-recorded presentations if you have a way these can be shared with students and parents.
I know seniors have probably been most impacted by this situation, and please know I am committed to helping them as much as possible. If you have a senior that reaches out to you needing anything, please share my contact information with them or let me know. I have maintained constant communication with most of them, but I never want anyone to feel lost or forgotten!
If you would like to schedule a virtual visit, or if you prefer that I send a pre-recorded presentation, please respond to this email with your request. I am available and happy to support you in any way I can!
Thank you, and stay safe and healthy!
