Miller Elementary School
Home of the Mustangs - March Newsletter 2023
Letter from the Principal
Dear Miller Families,
Welcome to March! We hope you are all doing well. As you have likely heard, at the end of January and into February, our district experienced a data security incident that impacted some of our systems. Our students continued to have access to the tools they needed to continue learning. Our incredible Miller teachers and staff worked hard to continue providing an excellent education for all students. We appreciate your patience and support as we navigated the system outages.
February was a great month with Parent-Teacher Conferences, Love of Reading week and Rodeo Break! We had some wonderful guest readers who came to Miller during Love of Reading week and were amazed with our beautiful campus and wonderful Miller Mustangs! Please continue to encourage love of reading at home with your children to foster their reading skills.
A friendly reminder that learning begins at 8:20 am every morning and it is important that students are in line prior to that time. It is very challenging for students who are routinely late to adjust and catch up on their morning routines and missed instruction.
Thank you,
Mrs. Aragon

Counseling Corner
Our Character Strong trait of the month is Cooperation - working together to reach shared goals. Students are continuing to develop and grow the executive functioning skills that help students complete daily tasks throughout the quarter. Lessons will include practice with listening skills and attention. We will also begin to focus on testing strategies for our 3rd -5th graders in order to prepare for the AASA. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via email at susan.oakley@tusd1.org.

Lost & Found
If your child is missing an item, please come by the office and ask for the Lost & Found area in the courtyard to see if it is there - or make sure your child is checking the Lost & Found for any missing items!
At the end of the year, anything that is left over will be donated to the Family Resource Center.
Designate your Arizona Tax Credit to Miller!
Did you know there is an easy way to support Miller Elementary School?
Now through April 15th, when you make a contribution to Davis, you can take advantage of the Arizona Public Schools Tax Credit and choose to pay some of the state income tax you owe directly to Miller - up to $200 for single filers and $400 for joint filers. It's easy to contribute here. Best of all, in Arizona, you get your tax credit contribution back, subject to the limits of your tax liability, when you contribute now, and later file your tax return. Please consult your tax professional for more information. Spread the word! Please share with your family and friends in Arizonaβthank you for giving kids at Miller the extra credit.
Traffic Reminders
When in the parking lot, be sure to go slow and pay attention as many families and students walk through the parking lot and surrounding streets to get to and from school each day.
Please be sure to pull all the way forward when dropping off your student, to avoid the line backing up. There is NO PARKING in the driveway area in the morning - as well as on Calle Isabel. Those are No Parking Zones - and you could be ticketed for parking in those areas.
If you are going to park your car, please use the parking lot and a parking space in the mornings and afternoons. Also, please make sure to avoid dropping off students in the bus bay area. Students should be dropped off on Avenida Isabel or through the drop off lane in the parking lot.
Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!
Attendance Matters
If they arrive after 8:35 am, please make sure to sign them in with the office and get a late pass. If they are going to be absent, please make sure to call the office to excuse the absence.
Classes are dismissed at 2:30 pm (or 1:30 pm on Wednesdays).
